We regret to inform you that athlete Maria Maggoulia, who was certain to bring two gold medals to Kalymnos — in shot put and discus throw — will not participate in the Dodecanese Men’s–Women’s Championship, scheduled to take place in Rhodes on May 17, 2025.
Due to financial constraints, our club is unable to cover her travel expenses. As a result, Maria will compete instead in the Athens Championship, leaving the Enosi Kazonis – Kalymnos 2000 without her crucial points and the prestige of two more Dodecanese titles.
Currently, the club’s treasury holds just €67.78. The situation is dire. The future of Kalymnian athletics — our youth, their efforts, and their dreams — is in jeopardy due to financial hardship.
We are also deeply disappointed to announce that Giorgos Charamandas will likewise not compete in the upcoming championship in Rhodes. Giorgos, a committed and successful athlete, was likewise expected to win two gold medals in shot put and discus throw for Kalymnos. Instead, he will participate in the Piraeus Championship for the same reasons — leaving our club without vital points and recognition.
Together, the absence of both Maria and Giorgos delivers a severe blow to the hopes and goals of our team.
We urgently appeal to anyone who can support us — no matter the amount — to contribute:

Let’s not allow the dedication and dreams of these athletes to go to waste. Kalymnian athletics needs all of us — now more than ever.
Sincerely,
Georgios A. Roussos
President, AS Enosi Kazonis – Kalymnos 2000
