Acquittal Decision Followed by Political Reactions
The municipal faction “Kalymnos Power of Perspective” has issued a detailed statement regarding the conclusion of the criminal proceedings related to the KALYMNOS STAR vessel accident and the acquittal of Antonis Gedeon, Giorgos Thanasis and Thomas Skrivanos.
According to the statement, all required investigative procedures were carried out following the incident. Experts appointed by the insurance company reportedly concluded that the accident was likely caused by an electrical short circuit and not by negligence on the part of the company.
The announcement also refers to the €750,000 insurance compensation paid after the accident and to subsequent complaints that were investigated by the competent authorities.
The faction argues that the court proceedings ultimately led to the acquittal of the defendants, citing expert findings and the legal defense presented during the trial. At the same time, it strongly criticizes individuals whom it holds responsible for the legal dispute, suggesting political and personal motives behind the case.
The statement concludes with references to the management of ANEK’s financial resources and calls on the current administration to provide explanations regarding specific financial matters that, according to the faction, concern the local community.
