Coastal Shipping Boost: Four-Year Contracts for Remote Island Routes – Funding Rises to €668 Million
A major policy change enhances ferry services to remote Greek islands, with state contracts for subsidized routes now extending to four years instead of one. This aims to ensure continuity and reliability in maritime transport.
Dodecanese MP and Chairman of the Parliament’s Committee on Regions, Mr. Manos Konsolas, welcomed the development, having previously raised the issue through parliamentary scrutiny and the Subcommittee on Island Regions.
In addition, available funding for these “unprofitable” routes will be significantly increased, reaching a total of €668 million over the next four years.
