The Medical Association of the Kalymnos District is pleased to announce the organization of a free breast cancer screening campaign on our island, in collaboration with the Hellenic Cancer Society, the Mobile Mammography Unit, and with the support of the Municipality of Kalymnos. The campaign will take place from June 16 to June 20, 2025, at the premises of the Senior Citizens’ Center (KAPI), and is addressed to women aged 40 to 70 years old, with no history of breast cancer and without breast implants.
The Hellenic Cancer Society visited Kos on December 9-11, 2024, and the President of the Medical Association of Kos, Ms. Katerina Gavala, requested and supported the extension of this preventive campaign to the islands of the Kalymnos regional unit. The Medical Association of the Kalymnos District fully supported this idea from the outset and worked closely with the Medical Association of Kos to implement this initiative both in Lipsi and in Kalymnos. Together, we send the message that prevention and early diagnosis save lives and should be an ongoing commitment for every citizen.
The contribution of the Deputy Mayor of Health of the Municipality of Kalymnos, Mr. Georgios Choulis, and the Municipal Authorities was very significant at a practical level, providing venues, facilitating transportation, and offering financial and technical support for the campaign.
The Medical Association of the Kalymnos District, the President, and the Board of Directors are committed to continuing to support every initiative that places life, prevention, and care for our border communities at the center.
