KALYMNOS, GREECE – In a monumental career milestone, Greek basketball prospect Stavroula Mavrou is officially heading to the United States. The 5’5″ combo guard from the island of Kalymnos has signed an athletic scholarship with Frank Phillips College in Texas.
Mavrou, a standout in the Class of 2026, is widely recognized for her elite perimeter shooting and high basketball IQ. Her impressive resume includes championship experience with top-tier Greek clubs PAOK and Aris, early development with E.A.KA, and stints on the FIBA 3×3 international circuit. Her skill set caught the eye of the Lady Plainsmen coaching staff, looking to inject pure scoring ability into their backcourt.
Frank Phillips College competes in the highly scouted Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC). Mavrou joins a heavily international roster, aligning with prospects from the UK and Senegal.
This major career transition was facilitated by the AssistUS Basketball recruiting service, which specializes in connecting European athletes with American college programs. For Mavrou, this Junior College (JUCO) pathway serves as a high-exposure launchpad designed to propel her toward NCAA Division 1 basketball. A new chapter begins in the Lone Star State.
