The Deputy Mayor of Health and Welfare, Georgios E. Choulis, withdraws his proposal for the long-term lease of his property, which was intended to be used for an indoor basketball court. Below is his official statement addressed to Georgios Mavros, Head of the Municipal Faction “Kalymnos is Changing”:
My decision to offer, through a long-term lease, a high-value plot of land to the Municipality for the creation of sports facilities (Indoor Basketball Court) had the sole aim of benefiting our fellow citizens and the youth.
Instead of this act of social contribution being acknowledged, I was subjected to unfair and slanderous attacks by Mr. Georgios Mavros, who attempted to undermine my honor and dignity by presenting altruism as opportunism.
I state clearly that I will not tolerate the distortion of my intentions. For this reason, I am withdrawing my proposal, refusing to allow my offer to be used as a tool for petty political exploitation—against me and against my children.
Society knows who contributes and who offends. I will continue to serve the common good with honesty and transparency.
