Congratulations from Nikitiadis on the Award to Journalist Michalis Mastis
PASOK MP for the Dodecanese and former Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Giorgos Nikitiadis, extends his warm congratulations on the award presented to Michalis Mastis, chief editor of the newspaper “Rodiaki”, by the Athanassios V. Botsis Foundation for the Promotion of Journalism. The award ceremony took place on Friday, May 23rd.
The presentation of the award to Michalis Mastis at Zappeion Hall by the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Konstantinos Tasoulas, during the Botsis Journalism Awards, marks a significant moment of recognition — not only for the importance of journalism in the Dodecanese but also for Mastis’ personal contribution to the field.
Michalis Mastis has served and continues to serve journalism in the Dodecanese with passion, objectivity, consistency, and a profound sense of responsibility. His writing has highlighted human stories, social needs, everyday issues, and the core values of the region.
At a time when journalism is often undermined by superficiality, carelessness, and misinformation, Mastis’ professional ethos demonstrates that Dodecanese journalism still rests on solid foundations — with respected individuals and inspiring examples for the next generations.
His impact extends beyond journalism. Michalis Mastis has also left his mark in the realm of literature and local historiography, having authored two notable books. Through these works, he shares experiences, memories, and testimonies that shed light on the social and cultural identity of the region, as well as on trade union struggles in Rhodes.
His recognition is an honor for the entire Dodecanese, the local journalistic community, and for all citizens who see honest and courageous reporting as a cornerstone of democracy.
