Dodecanese MP of New Democracy, Ioannis Pappas, announced that a significant number of medical positions will be published to reinforce hospitals across the Dodecanese islands.
According to Pappas, the initiative follows coordinated efforts with hospital administrators and close cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Deputy Health Minister Marios Themistocleous, aiming to substantially strengthen the National Health System in island regions.
The new positions concern critical medical specialties and will cover hospitals in Rhodes, Kos, Leros, Karpathos, and Kalymnos. The General Hospital of Rhodes is expected to receive the largest reinforcement, with positions in a wide range of specialties including internal medicine, cardiology, surgery, radiology, oncology, and intensive care.
Additional staffing is also planned for hospitals in the other islands, focusing on both primary and specialized healthcare services.
Particular emphasis is placed on Kalymnos Hospital, where positions will be opened for cardiologists, internists, pulmonologists, nephrologists, ENT specialists, and radiologists.
Pappas stated that strengthening healthcare infrastructure in island areas is a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to ensuring equal access to high-quality healthcare services for all citizens, regardless of geographic location.
He also highlighted that cooperation with the Ministry of Health is delivering tangible results, contributing to the upgrade of the National Health System and supporting local communities in the Dodecanese.
