Ensuring Safe Education During Academy Renovation
A major boost for the educational community of Rhodes has been announced, with €400,000 secured to fund the installation of prefabricated classroom units (isoboxes), ensuring that students can continue their education safely while renovation works are carried out at the historic Academy of Rhodes.
The funding was secured through cooperation between the Ministry of Migration and Asylum and the Municipality of Rhodes, following coordinated efforts aimed at addressing the needs of the local school community. According to Dodecanese Member of Parliament Giannis Pappas, securing the necessary resources was essential to guarantee uninterrupted educational services during the renovation period.
The initiative was supported through collaboration with Minister of Migration and Asylum Thanasis Plevris, Secretary General for Reception and Identification Spyros Stathoulis, Reception and Identification Service Administrator Giannis Fragoulis, Deputy Mayor for Education Matina Giannelli, and Municipal Secretary General Evangelia Nika.
The new classroom facilities will provide students with a safe and suitable learning environment, allowing academic activities to continue without disruption until the completion of the Academy’s renovation.
“Education and support for the younger generation remain a constant priority,” Mr. Pappas stated, emphasizing that the project will improve educational infrastructure while enhancing the quality of life for local families.
The initiative is seen as another important step toward modernizing educational facilities in the Dodecanese, demonstrating how effective cooperation between central government and local authorities can deliver practical solutions to challenges facing local communities.
