The government is on high alert following recent developments in the Middle East, particularly the bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities by the United States.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s press office, the Government Council for National Security (KYSEA) will hold an emergency meeting at 19:00, chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, with the recent events in the Middle East as the main topic of discussion.
At the same time, Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias will visit the Pentagon, where all potential scenarios on the ground will be discussed.
In his weekly address on Facebook, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for restraint and enhanced international coordination. He stressed that Europe must rise to the occasion and play an active role, with the relevant discussions set to continue in institutional forums such as the upcoming NATO Summit and the European Council. As he stated, Europe must demonstrate the necessary responsibility in safeguarding international peace and stability.
