Proposal Ranks Among Top Evaluations Nationwide
KALYMNOS, Greece – A major infrastructure boost is on the horizon for Kalymnos after the Municipality’s proposal for the upgrading and paving of the rural road connecting Stimenia and Agia Anna in Vathy received one of the highest evaluation scores under Greece’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) 2023-2027 Strategic Plan.
The project, with a total budget of €995,782.15, achieved an impressive 85% evaluation score, placing it among the top-ranked proposals submitted under the funding programme.
The planned works include the improvement and asphalt paving of approximately 3.8 kilometres of municipal rural roadway, providing better access to agricultural properties and cultivated land in the area.
Local authorities say the project will significantly strengthen the island’s primary sector by facilitating transportation for farmers, improving the movement of agricultural products and equipment, and enhancing road safety.
Municipal officials noted that the initiative builds on planning efforts launched during the previous municipal administration, while the current administration updated and supported the proposal in cooperation with municipal services and relevant government ministries.
Mayor Giannis Mastrokoukos welcomed the positive assessment, describing it as an important development for Kalymnos and reaffirming the municipality’s commitment to securing funding for projects that improve infrastructure and support local growth.
