During our telephone conversation today with Nektaria Skaleri, President of the Association “Mastichari Drasis”, we were informed that a dynamic protest will take place at the port of Mastichari on Sunday, September 21, 2025, rather than a blockade of the port.
Following her meeting yesterday at the Port Authority of Kos with the Port Officer of Kos, Mr. Margaris, and the guarantees she received from the President of the Port Fund, Mr. Chondros, the Association decided to proceed with a strong protest starting at 8:00 a.m.
In fact, the president is also inviting Kalymnians who wish to join their cause to support the protest. According to her, soon no vessel will be able to dock there, leading to all passenger flow being diverted to the port of Kos.
As she told us, there are many problems in the village, but the most important one is the port. Over the years, seaweed and sediment have accumulated, preventing the safe mooring of vessels at the port of Mastichari. A crane is required to operate for at least a month to deepen the area around the port once again. The funding has already been approved.
