Educator Ioannis Trikoilis will deliver the keynote address at an anniversary event organised by the “Ai Mousai” Reading Society and the Kalymnos National Guard Battalion.
Kalymnos’s role as an intermediate staging point for German military operations, following the capture of Kos and before the capture of Leros, will be the focus of an event marking Greece’s October 28 national anniversary, known as Ohi Day.
Organised by the “Ai Mousai” Reading Society and the Kalymnos National Guard Battalion, the event will take place on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., on the ground floor of the Kalymnos Cultural Centre.
The keynote speaker, educator Ioannis Trikoilis, will address the subject: “Kalymnos as an Intermediate Staging Point for German Operations Following the Capture of Kos and Before the Capture of Leros.”
The anniversary gathering will turn the spotlight on local history and Kalymnos’s place in wartime developments across the Dodecanese. The organisers invite the public to attend the lecture and join the commemoration.
