The passenger vessel “Kalymnos Dolphin” returned to the port of Kalymnos after a rudder malfunction occurred during a scheduled route to Pserimos and Kos on Sunday afternoon (May 17, 2026).
According to an announcement by the Hellenic Coast Guard, a total of 117 passengers were on board and safely disembarked after the vessel returned to Kalymnos port.
The malfunction was detected while the vessel was at sea, forcing the crew to interrupt the voyage and return as a precautionary measure, without endangering the safety of passengers or crew members.
The shipping company arranged alternative transportation for the passengers to reach their final destinations, aiming to minimize inconvenience.
Meanwhile, port authorities temporarily prohibited the vessel from sailing until the damage is repaired and the required seaworthiness certificate is issued.
