A new edition of Yannis Maglis’ landmark book My Brothers, Mankind (T’ Aderfia mou oi Anthropoi) will be presented on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 8:30 p.m., at the open-air theatre of Agios Panteleimonas in Kalymnos.
The special event will celebrate the life, literary work and enduring legacy of the distinguished Kalymnian author. It is being organized by the Synchroni Epochi publishing house and the Initiative Group for the Promotion of Yannis Maglis’ Work, with the aim of reintroducing one of Kalymnos’ most acclaimed writers to contemporary readers.
The programme was unveiled during a press conference held by the Initiative Group on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Kalymnos Chamber of Commerce. Markos Skordos–Mougros and philologist and poet Maria Chatzichristodoulou presented the details of the event and discussed the effort to republish the works of Yannis Maglis. They also invited the people of Kalymnos to rediscover the literary voice of their celebrated fellow islander.
Speakers will include poet Sakellaris Kampouris; teacher and Mayor of Kalymnos Yannis Mastrokoukos; Markos Skordos–Mougros, representing the Initiative Group; Sevasti Kosmopoulou of Synchroni Epochi; and philologist and poet Maria Chatzichristodoulou. Representatives of local organizations will also deliver brief greetings.
The evening will be hosted by educator Maria Riga. Members of the Kalymnos Theatre Group will read selected passages from the book, bringing its characters and timeless messages to life.
The musical programme will be provided by Lefteris Saroukos and Angeliki Vasilakopoulou–Roussou.
The event offers Kalymnos an important opportunity to honour one of its own distinguished literary figures and introduce his work to a new generation of readers.
