Dodecanese MP Manos Konsolas submitted a new proposal aiming to strengthen police services in the South Aegean. He calls for:
- An increase in the number of newly appointed police officers in island services.
- Housing incentives for officers transferred to the islands.
- Additional merit points to facilitate future transfers to preferred locations.
- A partnership between the Ministry of Civil Protection and the Ministry of Defense to meet housing needs through real estate utilization.
Given that the South Aegean has 327,820 permanent residents and over 7.5 million tourists in 2024, Konsolas stresses the urgent need for more police personnel to handle both operational and administrative duties, including border control, visa processing, and immigration management.
