SYRIZA-PS spokesperson Kostas Zachariadis, speaking on Real FM, commented on Alexis Tsipras’ new book, noting that it offers historical and political insight and reveals aspects of the party’s governing years that even insiders did not fully see at the time. He emphasized that Tsipras’ public self-reflection contributes to redefining the future direction of the Left, clarifying positions that previously remained vague. Zachariadis stressed that rebuilding the progressive camp requires openness, common ground, and cooperation, identifying Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis as the main political opponent.
He criticized New Democracy’s reaction to the book as arrogant, arguing that its poll lead stems from a fragmented opposition rather than governmental strength. He described the government as failing amid rising social and economic pressures. Finally, he urged party members not to underestimate their own political base, which, despite fragmentation, remains committed to its values and expects a clear path forward.
