Three Migrants Paid €5,000 Each for Crossing from Turkey
Greek authorities are investigating an alleged migrant smuggling operation after three foreign nationals reported entering Greece illegally via a luxury yacht arriving from the Turkish coast.
According to the Hellenic Coast Guard, during the evening of 5 July 2026, the Kalymnos Port Authority was informed that three foreign nationals had appeared at the Kalymnos Police Department, where they declared they had entered the country illegally.
The individuals stated that they had disembarked at the Port of Kalymnos on the evening of 4 July, having traveled aboard a luxury yacht from Bodrum, Turkey, while blending in with the vessel’s legitimate passengers. They further alleged that, after dropping them off, the yacht’s captain and three accomplices immediately departed, returning toward the Turkish coast.
The migrants told authorities they had each paid €5,000 for their transportation to Greece.
The Kalymnos Port Authority is conducting a preliminary investigation to establish the full circumstances of the case and identify those allegedly involved in the suspected migrant smuggling network.
