“Four Proposals by Manos Konsolas to Support Amateur Sports Clubs on the Islands”
Dodecanese MP Manos Konsolas submitted a comprehensive four-point proposal to support the operation of amateur sports clubs on the islands, addressing the Ministries of Sports, Finance, Shipping and Island Policy, and Health.
He emphasizes that the development of sports in the islands is closely tied to supporting life and human activity in these areas.
His four main proposals:
1️ Full subsidy of inter-island transport for amateur sports clubs, covering ferry ticket costs.
2️ Institutional recognition of insularity as a criterion for financial support through betting revenues.
3️ Pre-sports Medical Check-Up Program, including clinical and laboratory tests for island athletes.
4️ Legislative amendments to allow local clubs to contract members or relatives of their boards due to local community limitations.
Mr. Konsolas also pointed out that the government has already provided benefits like a 60% scoring increase for funding applications and a 30% financial boost for clubs in islands with fewer than 3,100 residents, as well as free transportation on subsidized ferry routes.
His proposals aim to strengthen grassroots sports and promote fairness for island communities.
