For the fishermen of Kalymnos, the “incursion” of Turkish fishermen has become a daily reality, according to statements made on August 27, 2025, on OPEN TV and the show “10 Pantou” by the President of the Kalymnos Medium-Scale Fishermen Association, Kostas Saroukos.
He stressed that Turkish fishermen are often armed and sometimes approach as close as 100 meters from the Greek coast. Although the Hellenic Coast Guard intervenes to push them away, local fishermen say they still do not feel safe at sea.
