€5 Million Boost for the Dodecanese
Major funding has been approved for infrastructure recovery and wildfire protection projects across the Dodecanese islands following a decision by Greece’s Government Committee for State Aid (KEKA).
The announcement was made by Dodecanese MP Ioannis (Giannis) Pappas, who said the funding follows extensive consultations with local mayors and ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection.
Under the approved allocations, Rhodes Municipal Water and Sewerage Company (DEYA Rhodes) will receive €2 million, the Municipality of Kos €1.5 million, the Municipality of Leros €1 million, the Municipality of Kalymnos €500,000, and the Municipality of Kasos €77,000.
The funds will support restoration projects in areas affected by natural disasters while also strengthening wildfire prevention and protection measures, helping local communities improve resilience against increasingly frequent climate-related threats.
Pappas also noted that procedures concerning funding for Karpathos are already underway, with further announcements expected in the coming period.
