Manos Konsolas: “New Democracy should not lose the people who moved away from the party”
Dodecanese MP for New Democracy, Manos Konsolas, stressed the need for the party to reconnect with citizens who have distanced themselves from New Democracy during his speech at the party’s 16th Congress.
Konsolas stated that those who moved away from the party are not political opponents, but people who supported New Democracy “during difficult times, not only during easy ones.” He noted that these citizens helped shape the major social and political groups historically represented by the party.
He also rejected claims suggesting that these voters cannot return or that the party should focus solely on attracting a different audience. “New Democracy is a broad political force because it addresses all Greeks,” he emphasized.
The Dodecanese MP further argued that a “Strong Greece” requires a strong, politically dominant and majority-driven New Democracy. He stressed that the party must once again engage with citizens who distanced themselves, listen to their concerns and, where necessary, revise policies, accelerate reforms and respond with concrete actions and commitments.
“Majorities are built by people, and New Democracy has historically expressed broad majorities,” Konsolas said, adding that the shared values between the party and its supporters should never be forgotten.
