Manos Konsolas: New Funding Programs for Manufacturing, Large Investments and Remote Areas
Important developments for island and border regions emerged during the discussion of a Ministry of Development bill in the Parliamentary Committee on Production and Trade, chaired by Dodecanese MP Manos Konsolas.
During the debate on the bill—covering the simplification of economic activity regulations, market supervision, protection of geographical indications, and the strengthening of development activity—new investment support measures were announced.
According to the Minister of Development, Takis Theodorikakos, three funding schemes under the development law are being re-launched, specifically targeting remote island and border areas.
The programs will provide support for:
- investment projects in the manufacturing sector
- large-scale investments
- special support areas, focusing on remote island and border regions
The aim is to boost competitiveness, promote regional development, and address demographic challenges.
Each program will have a budget of €150 million, bringing the total allocation for all three schemes to €450 million.
The re-launch was deemed necessary due to the strong interest shown by citizens and investors seeking to participate in these funding programs.
