Dodecanese MP Manos Konsolas has submitted a significant proposal aimed at strengthening emergency air medical transport across the Aegean islands, following the donation of two state-of-the-art, fully equipped helicopters to Greece’s National Centre for Emergency Care (EKAB) by the country’s four systemic banks.

His proposal focuses on maximizing emergency response coverage by strategically deploying the two helicopters across the island regions.

Specifically, Mr. Konsolas suggests:

• One helicopter should be based in Rhodes, serving the southern Dodecanese and, when necessary, several Cyclades islands. 
• The second helicopter should operate from Leros, providing emergency air ambulance services to the northern Dodecanese as well as islands in the North Aegean. 

According to the Dodecanese MP, this deployment would significantly improve emergency medical coverage across a vast geographical area, effectively serving two island regions and reducing response times for critical medical incidents.

He also stresses that both Rhodes and Leros already possess the necessary infrastructure to host and support the operation of EKAB’s new helicopters, strengthening healthcare security for both island residents and visitors.
