Dodecanese MP Manos Konsolas, through a parliamentary intervention addressed to the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, highlights the urgent need to upgrade air navigation systems in the Athens FIR and major regional airports, following flight delays and disruptions recorded at the beginning of the year.
At the same time, he stresses the importance of strengthening the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority with additional air traffic controllers and highly specialized technical staff, particularly at island and tourist airports. He notes that modern air navigation systems will enable airports to handle increased flight volumes, especially ahead of the tourism season.
Mr. Konsolas calls for a clear implementation timetable for the installation of new air navigation systems, as well as a concrete plan for reinforcing the Civil Aviation Authority with personnel at both central and regional airports.
