Kalymnos Municipal Council Met on April 15 with 23 Items on the Agenda
The Kalymnos Municipal Council convened on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 14:00 in the council chamber of the Town Hall, amid tension.
The opposition raised objections regarding both the scheduled time and the large number of agenda items, expressing their concerns through letters as well as in person. As a result, a vote was held on whether to amend the agenda; however, it was decided to proceed as originally planned.
At the beginning of the session, a one-minute silence was observed in memory of Fani Kapella-Koutouzi.
Just before the meeting, an out-of-agenda issue was introduced by Athanasios Fragkos, requesting legal assistance regarding the matter of church councils. Municipal councillor Mr. V. Dikaros, speaking in his legal capacity, stated that the Municipality could not provide legal assistance, as this would create a conflict of interest. He noted, however, that support for Mr. Fragkos could be considered, pending further examination of how this might be done lawfully.
Municipal councillor Mr. A. Trikoilis pointed out that the municipal faction “Kalymnos – Force of Perspective” should formally state its position on the matter, as Mr. Fragkos had been a member of that faction while serving as a councillor. This proposal was unanimously approved.
