The negotiators of the European Parliament and the Council have reached a provisional agreement on the legislative package “one substance, one assessment,” which aims to simplify and enhance the transparency of EU chemical regulations.
The legislative package includes three proposals designed to streamline chemical safety assessments by improving access to chemical-related data and maximizing synergies between the involved EU agencies.
Rapporteur Dimitrios Tsiodras (EPP) stated:
“Today’s political agreement is a significant step forward for the EU’s chemical policy. With the successful completion of these three legislative files, Parliament is delivering on its promise for a safer, more transparent, and innovation-friendly regulatory framework.”
The new legislation must now be formally approved by both the European Parliament and the Council. It will enter into force 20 days after its publication in the Official Journal of the EU.
