Security Boost Sought for Dodecanese Islands as Tourist Season Peaks
Dodecanese MP Giannis Pappas met with Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis to discuss public safety and quality-of-life issues affecting residents and visitors across the Dodecanese islands. During the meeting, Pappas highlighted the need for additional police personnel and resources to maintain high security standards throughout the region.
Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening policing at ports, airports, and reception facilities, where demands increase significantly during the busy tourism season. Pappas also invited the minister to visit Rhodes and the other Dodecanese islands to gain first-hand knowledge of local challenges, an invitation that Chrysochoidis reportedly accepted.
According to the MP, public safety is a key prerequisite for citizens’ quality of life, the smooth operation of local communities, and the sustainable development of the islands. He stressed the importance of ongoing cooperation among all relevant authorities to ensure that both residents and visitors feel secure throughout the region.
