Regulation of Vehicle Parking and Installation of Relevant Signage
A series of pilot parking regulations were discussed and approved during the Municipal Council meeting held on May 16, 2025. These changes from July 1 to September 15, 2025, aim to improve traffic flow, safety, and access along the major commercial and coastal zones of Kalymnos.
A) Main Commercial Road (Uphill / Downhill Sections)
Uphill Section 📍
From “Nostimo” souvlaki shop to “Koubaras” supermarket:
- Right-hand side: Parking allowed only for two-wheel vehicles.
- Cars: Only temporary stopping with hazard lights on is permitted.
- At “Kalamiótissa” area: Marked parking spaces will be created.
Downhill Section (From “Psarombas” gas station to National Bank)
- Right-hand side: Parking allowed only for two-wheel vehicles, and cars: Only temporary stopping with hazard lights on is permitted.
- Left-hand side: Parking is strictly prohibited.
B) Central Coastal Zone of Kalymnos
📍 From “Mamouzelos” ouzeri to the Town Hall:
- Two-wheel vehicle parking allowed in front of the shops, cafes, and restaurants
- Car parking spots on the opposite side remain unchanged.
📍 From the Nautical Museum to the National Bank, and
📍 From the National Bank to “Porto” pizzeria, up to “Michalaras” pastry shop:
- Right-hand side: No parking allowed – only temporary stopping with hazard lights.
- Left-hand side: Parking allowed for two-wheel vehicles only.
📦 Store deliveries are permitted only until 10:30 a.m.
These regulations aim to optimize traffic flow, enhance public safety, and support the orderly operation of commercial and coastal zones during the peak season.
