A memorable concert at the Katerina Klonari Theatre, made possible through the contribution of its organisers and sponsors
The Music Odyssey orchestra offered the audience of Kalymnos a nostalgic journey back to the legendary Athenian boîte music clubs of the 1960s on the evening of Friday, 18 September 2026, at the open-air Katerina Klonari Theatre in Chora.
Entitled “From the Boîte Clubs of the ’60s to Dionysis Savvopoulos – A Concert Journey,” the performance revived an important era of Greek musical creativity, recreating the distinctive atmosphere of the historic venues and presenting songs that left a lasting mark on Greek culture.
The event was introduced by Eirini Govatsou, president of the Kantouni–Linaria Environmental and Cultural Association, who welcomed the audience and highlighted the importance of the cultural initiative.
A visibly moved Giannis Malafis, conductor of the Music Odyssey orchestra and professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, also addressed the audience. He expressed his joy and emotion at bringing the orchestra to Kalymnos and thanked the public for its warm response.
The concert formed part of the Municipality of Kalymnos’ cultural programme and was jointly organised by the Municipality of Kalymnos and the Kantouni–Linaria Environmental and Cultural Association. Their collaboration played a decisive role in presenting a high-quality musical event with free admission.
Special recognition is due to the sponsors, Argo, Blue Star Ferries and Norma’s Village, whose valuable support contributed substantially to the organisation of the concert and to Music Odyssey’s appearance on Kalymnos.
It was a memorable cultural evening filled with music, nostalgia and shared emotions, bringing different generations together through songs from an era that continues to resonate with audiences today.
