An investigation into potentially illegal subsidies in the organic livestock sector has begun on the islands of Kalymnos, Rhodes, and Naxos. A total of eight cases will be reviewed by the South Aegean Region, following a request by the Ministry of Rural Development to intensify inspections of EU-funded agricultural programs.
The checks do not include organic beekeeping for this region, focusing solely on livestock farming. Deputy Regional Governor Philimonas Zannetidis, in a social media post, confirmed the region’s support despite staffing shortages and urged the Ministry to recruit more specialized agronomists.
