New developments are underway regarding the long-standing issue of removing sunken vessels from the port of Kalymnos, as the municipal administration continues efforts to resolve the matter permanently.
Deputy Mayor for Tourism and member of the Kalymnos Municipal Port Fund Board, Kalliopi Koutouzi, met with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum, Spyros Stathoulis.
The meeting focused on securing funding for the project to raise and remove the sunken vessels — a long-standing issue that has negatively affected both the image and functionality of the port for decades. According to the announcement, Mr. Stathoulis confirmed that the study file prepared by the Kalymnos Municipal Port Fund is complete and assured municipal representatives that the matter will soon be submitted for approval at the first session of the competent ministerial committee.
Municipal officials emphasized that the ultimate goal is to deliver a clean, safe, and fully functional harbor that reflects the tourism and development prospects of Kalymnos.
