Project of National Significance on Kalolimnos – Approval of Intergovernmental Agreement for the Improvement of the Island’s Road Network
There are moments when one feels truly proud to serve in Local Government.
During yesterday’s meeting, the Regional Committee approved – following a request by Brigadier Dimitrios Kouletsis, Commander of the 80th Higher National Guard Battalion Command (80 ADTE), and the proposal of South Aegean Regional Governor George Hatzimarkos – the signing of an Intergovernmental Agreement between the Region of South Aegean and the Municipality of Kalymnos for the project “Improvement of the Road Network of Kalolimnos Island”, with a total budget of €500,000.
This is a project of honor, national symbolism, and substance — connecting the pier with the island’s military and civil infrastructure. It ensures safe and functional access to a place where Greece stands with pride, resilience, and devotion.
The Region of South Aegean will fully undertake the funding and implementation of the project, standing firmly beside those on the front line — the officers, non-commissioned officers, and personnel who serve their duty with faith, silence, and light.
Kalolimnos remains a powerful symbol of Greek presence, faith, and dedication. Every project there sends a message of Greece — strength, dignity, and unity.
In honor of the 60th anniversary of the 80 ADTE, and in recognition of the men and women of the Armed Forces who guard the nation’s borders, Local Government once again proves its commitment through action.
