Proteas Kalymnos continues strong presence in Athens swimming competitions
Proteas Kalymnos continues its active participation in major swimming events in Athens, with five of its athletes competing in the International Swimming Meet held at the Olympic Aquatic Center (OAKA) on March 20–21.
The event, organized by A.S. PERA, brought together approximately 2,400 athletes from nine countries, highlighting its international significance.
Representing Proteas Kalymnos were Eleftheria Siani and Efpremia Siani in the Girls B category, Anna Yallouri in the Girls category, Kalotina Perou in the Young Women category, and Nikolai Skripitsenko in the Boys B category.
All athletes achieved personal best performances and gained valuable experience, as it was their first time competing at Greece’s largest and most advanced swimming facility.
One of the most emotional moments of the event came during the participation of Nikolai Skripitsenko, a child with special needs who is well known in the local community for his love of sports. In every race he entered, the entire stadium rose to applaud him, offering encouragement and sending a powerful message of inclusion and acceptance.
The event concluded with a special award ceremony honoring Nikolai, who also received gifts from athletes of the Rouf 1980 team, where he trains in Athens under coach Michalis Glynatsis.
