“…And rain is a kindness, after all…”
— Manolis Anagnostakis
“Endless childhood hours, when an everlasting summer was not enough to take us from one pomegranate tree to the next. And oh, autumn, you carried us further…”
— Tasos Leivaditis
We welcome autumn with two poets and an invitation: to look beyond the images of destruction left by extreme weather, while remaining mindful of the suffering and uncertainty of those affected.
To rediscover the scent of rain-soaked earth, the gently fading light and the first cool evenings. To remember that rain nourishes the soil, and that a change of season can offer time for reflection, remembrance and a quieter moment with ourselves.
Anagnostakis finds kindness in the rain. Leivaditis lets autumn carry us beyond the boundless summers of childhood.
And somewhere between their lines, let us make a little room for the beauty of this season.
