Major Boost for the Dodecanese
The establishment of a Labour Safety and Health Inspection Department based in Rhodes has entered its final stage of implementation, according to Dodecanese MP Giannis Pappas, following the visit of Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security Kostas Karagounis to the island.
Mr. Pappas described the development as “a significant vindication” of a long-standing request from employees, business organisations and the local community across the Dodecanese. He noted that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ recent commitment during his visit to Rhodes is now being translated into action.
According to the MP, the new department will strengthen labour inspection mechanisms, improve occupational health and safety protection for workers, and provide faster and more efficient services to businesses throughout the Dodecanese.
During the Deputy Minister’s visit, a broad meeting was held at the Rhodes Labour Centre with the participation of its president and representatives of employees. Discussions focused on labour market challenges, priorities for improving workplace safety, enhancing inspection procedures and supporting employment.
Mr. Pappas stressed that cooperation and political commitment are essential for advancing initiatives that protect workers’ rights, support healthy entrepreneurship and contribute to the sustainable development of the Dodecanese.
