Schedule of His Eminence Metropolitan Paisios for the Akathist Hymn and Feast Celebrations
The Holy Metropolis announced the official schedule of His Eminence Metropolitan Paisios for the services of the Akathist Hymn, the feast of Saint Gavrilia of Leros, and the celebrations in honor of Saint Savvas of Kalymnos.
Friday, March 27, 2026 – Akathist Hymn
His Eminence Metropolitan Paisios will preside over the service:
- At 5:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Panagia of Blachernae, located at the offices of the Holy Metropolis
- At 7:30 p.m. at the Holy Monastery of All Saints
Saturday, March 28, 2026 – Akathist Hymn & Feast of Saint Gavrilia
On the morning of Saturday, March 28, marking both the Akathist Hymn of the Most Holy Theotokos and the Feast of the Dormition of Saint Gavrilia the Merciful, Patron Saint of Leros:
- His Eminence will celebrate the Divine Liturgy at the Metropolitan Church of the Savior Christ, where a relic of Saint Gavrilia is kept
- Service time: 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
Sunday, March 29, 2026 – Feast of Saint Savvas of Kalymnos
The celebrations continue on Sunday, March 29, marking the Fifth Sunday of Great Lent (Saint Mary of Egypt) and the feast of Saint Savvas of Kalymnos, Patron of the island.
Saturday evening (March 28):
- At 7:00 p.m., a Grand Festive Vespers will be held, presided over by Metropolitan Kyrillos of Rhodes, with the participation of Hierarchs from Kos, Nisyros, Leros, Kalymnos, Astypalaia, and other bishops
- A sermon will be delivered by Metropolitan Kyrillos
Late evening (around 10:00 p.m.):
- A Vigil Service will follow, including:
- Reading of the life of Saint Savvas
- Supplication service
- Midnight Office
- Orthros (Matins)
- Chanting of the Lamentations
- Night Divine Liturgy
Sunday morning:
- At 7:30 a.m., Orthros and a concelebrated Divine Liturgy will take place, presided over by Metropolitan Kyrillos of Rhodes
- A sermon will be delivered
- Around 11:00 a.m., a procession of the miraculous icon of Saint Savvas will follow, along with prayers for the health and protection of all Kalymnians and Dodecanesians, both on land and at sea
Sunday evening:
- At 6:00 p.m., the final Lenten Vespers will be held at the monastery, presided over by Bishop Antonios of Rodostolos
- The sermon will be delivered by Archimandrite Nektarios Pokias
- The Choir of the Municipality of Kalymnos, under the direction of Mr. Efstathios Tsagkaris, will chant
The cycle of Lenten Vespers will conclude with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Paisios.
All sacred services will be broadcast by local media and the television station of the Holy Monastery of Tharri in Rhodes.
