Opposition party urges diplomatic action and protection of the Greek minority
ATHENS – Greece’s main opposition party, SYRIZA–Progressive Alliance, has called on the Greek government to seek immediate explanations from Albanian authorities regarding recent events in the town of Zvërnec.
In an official statement, SYRIZA stressed that Athens must address the issue with seriousness and responsibility by taking the necessary diplomatic initiatives.
The party emphasized that full respect for the rights of the Greek national minority in Albania, as well as adherence to the rule of law, remain essential conditions for Albania’s accession process to the European Union.
SYRIZA also urged Greek authorities to request formal clarifications through the Albanian Embassy in Athens, highlighting the need for transparency and accountability concerning the incidents reported in Zvërnec.
