Mr. Mitsotakis attempted to shirk his responsibilities regarding the massive OPEKEPE scandal, which clearly bears the stamp of the New Democracy party and his government.
After six years in power, the Prime Minister still insists on referring to the distant past in an effort to assign blame and find scapegoats.
He also refers to audit initiatives and the return of funds. Let us remind him that this is not a favor — it is the government’s obligation to take such actions.
The case file reveals that high-ranking government officials and close associates of ministers and MPs are involved in various ways in the misuse of subsidies, to the detriment of honest farmers, all for patronage and political favors that directly benefit New Democracy and the Mitsotakis government.
Meanwhile, he pretends to be unaware. No one is convinced anymore. He knew what was going on and bears full responsibility. The very least he must do is resign.
