Hippocratic Week 2025 – The Authentic Oath in the Sacred Asclepieion of Kos
For over a decade, the island of Kos – birthplace of Hippocrates – has hosted the annual Authentic Hippocratic Oath Ceremony, held at the sacred archaeological site of the ancient Asclepieion. Top graduate medical students from Greek and international universities are honored with the chance to recite the Oath in a deeply symbolic and prestigious event.
The Hippocratic Week 2025 (October 13–19) features a program rich in science, culture, and symbolic acts:
- Press Conference at the Kos Hippocrates Foundation with the President N. Papantoniou on 15/10/2025 at 12.00 noon.
- The Hippocratic Symposium (Oct. 16–17), with participation from 13 Deans of U.S. Medical Schools and representatives from the UK, Cyprus, India, Canada, Oman, and Tunisia
- The Official Oath Ceremony on October 18, 2025
- A Hippocratic Honor Run, featuring athletes from Special Olympics Hellas, the Hellenic Red Cross, and local Kos clubs
- A Medical Conference on Assisted Fertility and Demographic Challenges in Greece, supported by major medical associations and institutions
The event is co-organized by the International Hippocratic Foundation of Kos, the Global Doctors Hippocratic Institute, regional health authorities, municipalities, medical societies, and archaeological services.
