Kalymnos Shows the Way Again – An Internationally Acclaimed Festival That Captivated Climbers and Audience Alike – The Next Event Scheduled for October 2026
The 14th Kalymnos Climbing Festival (KCF 2025) concluded successfully on Sunday, October 19, 2025, marking a powerful return after several years of absence and reigniting the energy of the global climbing community on the island.
From October 16 to 19, Kalymnos became a vibrant meeting point for elite climbers, journalists, and climbing enthusiasts from around the world, reaffirming its position as one of the top international climbing destinations.
This year’s edition stood out not only for its large turnout but also for the variety of activities: climbing expeditions, film screenings, workshops, exhibitions, and cultural events that showcased the island’s natural beauty and authenticity.
World-renowned climbers, leading Greek athletes and coaches attended the festival, along with notable figures such as Ms. Kalliopi Dilaveraki, President of the Hellenic Climbing Federation, Mr. Dimitris Georgoulis, former President of the Federation for 33 years, and Mr. Theodoros Tsavdaridis, Greece’s representative to the Olympic Committee for climbing – all reinforcing the national and international stature of the event.
A highlight of the festival was its strong media exposure, both in Greece and abroad, presenting Kalymnos as a destination of authentic experience, athletic excellence, and hospitality.
Despite the challenges of restarting such a large-scale event, the festival was flawlessly organized, with active volunteer involvement and strong support from the local community, paving the way for even greater international events in the future.
Mayor of Kalymnos, Mr. Giannis Mastrokoukos, expressed his satisfaction, stating:
“The success of this year’s Festival proves that Kalymnos can and should once again lead on the international climbing stage. I warmly thank everyone who contributed – volunteers, organizations, businesses, athletes, and of course, my dedicated team. Climbing is not just a sport; it’s part of our island’s identity and a tool for growth. We continue with the aim of making Kalymnos a global hub for sports and thematic tourism. See you in October 2026.”
Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Ms. Kalliopi Koutouzi – Vogelzang, also noted during the closing ceremony:
