After our newspaper’s article titled “Akti Beach, A New Waste Management Area?” was published on March 24, 2025, we visited Akti Beach again and found that the old shed of the Municipal Transport Service is still there, standing upright.
We contacted Mr. Michalis Kampourakis, Municipal Councilor of the Governing Party and President of the public corporation “Polydrastiki,” which manages the Municipal Transport Service. Mr. Kampourakis stated that all legal procedures were followed during the removal and management of the shed. He also expressed surprise at how it ended up at Akti. Finally, he emphasized that the area where the shed is now located is private property, so they cannot intervene.
