Boost for Kalymnos–Mastichari Connection
KALYMNOS, June 9, 2026 – Positive developments regarding the maritime connection between Kalymnos and Kos were announced by Deputy Mayor for Tourism Popi Koutouzi during the Kalymnos Municipal Council meeting on Monday.
Ms. Koutouzi informed council members that the “Ilias T.” and “Kalymnos Dolphin” are currently operating on the route to and from Mastichari, ensuring continued transportation services for residents and visitors traveling between Kalymnos and Kos.
She also announced that starting next week, the ANEM ferry will no longer dock at the port of Kos Town and will instead operate through Mastichari, further strengthening connectivity on the route.
Τhe ongoing issues at Mastichari Port are due to severe weather conditions that have led to the accumulation of large quantities of sand within the harbor area, restricting access for larger vessels.
Efforts to resolve the problem are progressing, and a solution is expected very soon. Once completed, larger vessels will again be able to safely access the port, significantly improving maritime transport services.
The development is particularly important as the summer tourist season reaches its peak, with the Kalymnos–Mastichari connection serving as a vital transportation link for both residents and visitors in the Dodecanese.
