The ordination of Archimandrite Kallinikos Mavroleon as Bishop of Medeia and Auxiliary Bishop of the Holy Metropolis of Karpathos and Kasos marked a particularly significant day for the two islands and their local Church.
The ordination took place on Sunday, September 20, 2026, opening a new chapter in the new Bishop’s long-standing service to the Church.
Following many years of ministry and dedication to the Church and its people, Bishop Kallinikos now assumes increased episcopal responsibilities as Auxiliary Bishop of the Holy Metropolis of Karpathos and Kasos.
Katerina Emmanouil, South Aegean Coordinator for New Democracy’s Secretariat for the Rights of the Child, attended the ordination and expressed her deep emotion at witnessing the occasion.
“I had the joy and particular emotion of attending today’s ordination and sharing this special moment with him and with all those who surround him with love and respect,” she said in a statement.
Emmanouil also wished the new Bishop health, strength and divine guidance, expressing the hope that his episcopal ministry will be blessed and fruitful.
“Your Grace, Bishop Kallinikos of Medeia, Axios! Many years!” her message concluded.
