Historic achievement for Kalymnos: Giorgos Skrivanos tops U23 Half Marathon category
A major sporting success for Kalymnos was recorded at the Rhodes International Half Marathon on April 26, 2026, where young athlete Giorgos Skrivanós delivered an outstanding performance.
The Kalymnian runner secured 1st place among Greek athletes in the U23 category, earning the title of Dodecanese U23 Champion, and becoming the first from Kalymnos to reach the top podium position in this category.
In the overall rankings, Skrivanós finished 7th among all Greek runners, 2nd in the U23 category among all nationalities, and 13th overall regardless of age or nationality, highlighting the significance of his achievement.
His finishing time of 1:28:31 set a new South Aegean U23 record, ranking him as the 2nd best athlete of all time in the Aegean region in the same category.
His coach, Nikolas Korfias, played a key role in this success, with their collaboration yielding impressive results at a high competitive level.
This achievement marks a milestone for local sports in Kalymnos and brings pride to the island, opening new prospects for the young champion’s future.
