According to a recent Facebook post by Ms. Natasa Bobolaki, President of the Federation NEMESIS – Panhellenic Federation for the Environment, Animals, and Hunting, hunting dogs have allegedly been confined for the past four years in an underground cellar with minimal light and ventilation, within the urban area of Kalymnos.
The competent authorities are aware of the situation, yet the dogs remain there. A veterinarian who examined them claimed they are in good health. However, the animals are subjected to passive abuse, as their basic needs are neglected. Moreover, the dogs are kept even more restricted, inside a makeshift cage within the basement. Needless to say, the heat during the peak of summer is unbearable.
Ms. Bobolaki has called for justice, and the federation’s legal representative has already contacted the chief of the local police department. We now await further developments.
