The Deputy Governor of the Regional Unit of Kalymnos visited the remote islands of Kinaros and Levitha, symbols of the Aegean spirit and the enduring soul of Greece. In Kinaros, she paid tribute to the island’s only resident, Mrs. Irini, honoring her as a living example of devotion and love for her homeland. A memorial service was held in remembrance of the three Hellenic Navy officers who lost their lives in a helicopter crash near the island in 2016.
On Levitha, home to only three inhabitants, daily life is challenging but marked by pride and dignity. The South Aegean Region and the Kalymnos Regional Unit reaffirmed their commitment to stand by these residents, acknowledging that their presence at the nation’s frontiers is not merely local but deeply national — a symbol of Greece’s enduring spirit where the map ends and the heart of the homeland begins.
