Further to my Parliamentary Report regarding the increases in freight transport fares, from the floor of Parliament, the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Mr. Vasilis Kikilias, clarified that the Ministry has not made any institutional changes to these prices.
Any increases by individual ferry companies correspond to a very low cost per kilogram of goods, while he emphasized that no profiteering cost transfers to island markets will be allowed.
At the same time, he highlighted the government’s legislative initiative to avoid any increase in passenger ticket prices this summer, as well as the ongoing effort to upgrade port infrastructure on our islands.
Insularity is a strategic advantage and a national priority that transcends political differences, aiming at equal transportation and the prosperity of our islanders.
