Yesterday, at the Kalymnos Town Hall, local media were briefed about the participation of Mayor of Kalymnos, Ioannis Mastrokoukos, and member of the Board of Directors of the South Aegean Solid Waste Management Agency (FoDSA), in the agency’s Annual General Assembly, held in Leros. All agenda items were unanimously approved, highlighting the well-organized and efficient operation of the agency.
Despite tensions often observed in public discourse, within the agency there is a climate of cooperation and a clear respect for legality. FoDSA began with a €7 million project and now implements projects worth €700 million, having secured comprehensive plans and funding for all the islands of the Dodecanese and Cyclades.
After the press conference, a representative from our newspaper asked Mayor Mastrokoukos whether Mayor of Kos, Mr. Theodosis Nikitaras, attended the General Assembly and whether he raised any objections regarding the transfer of Kalymnos waste to Kos. The answer was: No, he was not present, and during the Naxos assembly where he did attend, he did not express any opinion on the matter.
The mayor was also asked why the Kalymnos Dolphin ferry was removed from the route, but Mr. Mastrokoukos had no information on the issue, as he had just returned from Leros, and reserved the right to respond at a later time.
