The Municipality of Kalymnos Participates in the Symbolic Mobilization of Local Government – Municipality Closed on Tuesday, December 16
The Municipality of Kalymnos is taking part in the symbolic nationwide mobilization organized by the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE), which involves the symbolic closure of municipalities across the country on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the day of the vote on the 2026 State Budget.
The main demand of the mobilization is the increase of state funding to municipalities, under the central message:
“Financially Strong Municipalities, Always by the Citizen’s Side.”
The Mayor of Kalymnos, who actively participated in KEDE’s recent conference by presenting the issues and needs of Kalymnos, supports the collective decisions of Local Government and the fight for meaningful reform that ensures both administrative and financial independence for municipalities—with special consideration for island regions.
In addition, the Mayor will participate on Wednesday, December 17, in the extraordinary General Assembly of KEDE in Athens, ensuring that Kalymnos is represented in the decision-making process. The meeting will be attended by the political leadership of the Ministry of the Interior, and will focus on the content of the new Local Government Code, recently submitted by the Ministry to municipalities.
Local Government, united, demands real solutions for municipalities and citizens.
